/ The studio
Studio.
A small British studio that builds AI systems, software and websites for small and medium businesses. Founded 2025 by Ted Murdoch.
One studio.
No middlemen.
Uppercut Labs was started by Ted Murdoch, who has been building since he was twelve and got tired of watching agencies hand the same template to every business that walked in. The studio exists because the internet should be more interesting than that, and because anyone should be able to get something built properly.
We work with founders and teams building something real, where the brand, the product and the code all have to agree with each other. Small on purpose: you talk to the people doing the work, and the work does not get passed down a chain until nobody remembers why it was commissioned.
Most of what we build now puts AI to work inside a business that already exists. The websites, the design and the engineering did not go anywhere. They are what makes the AI work actually land.
Three rules.
No hand-offs
The person who takes the brief is the person who designs it, builds it and answers the phone afterwards. There is nobody in the middle to lose the point.
Opinionated
You are hiring judgement, not a pair of hands. If we think the thing you asked for is the wrong thing to build, we will say so before you pay for it.
Built to keep working
Systems, not one-off deliverables. Everything we ship should still be doing its job in two years, and we would rather maintain it than rebuild it.
